João Manuel de Oliveira

João Manuel de Oliveira is currently Associate Visiting Professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brasil. Working on the broad field of Gender Studies, Critical Studies of Sexuality and Feminist Theory, João’s work is based on a performative understanding of gender, within a post-structuralist feminist epistemology. João’s publications address intersectionality and hyphenation, homo/heteronormativity, de/subjugated knowledges and eccentric genealogies,anti-racist and anti-essentialist feminist theory, queer theory, trans* studies, contemporary arts and dance, the intricate relations between knowledges, bodies, politics and power within neoliberal political economy.
